This client, a rapidly expanding, premium homewares brand, are currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Product Development Manager to lead the homewares PD/buying team. This role will also be responsible for the table-top category.
You will be responsible for managing the Product Development team, having a strong ability in developing relationships both internally and externally with suppliers.
• Drive the core product strategy and team with the ambition to create a long-term lifestyle brand with strong commercial growth.
• Monitor market drivers and changes, competitors’ prices and offer, and analyse sales trends to anticipate changes in consumer buying patterns.
• Challenging and re-defining the product offer over all categories, and working with the management team to set up ambitious and realistic targets in terms of new product development, extension of our product ranges and new categories to develop.
• Developing long, mid and short-term strategies to identify, design and develop, source and release best-selling products in their categories, including the right mix of external collaboration, internal developments and off-the-shelf re-designs.
• Coordinating the international sourcing strategy
• Ensuring the business is partnering directly with the right manufacturers, without the need of agents or traders, with a key focus on pricing, quality of manufacturing and quality of service.
• Organize, prioritize and coordinate the projects workflow between the product team.
• Commercial acumen and a passion for the sector and its products
• An understanding of what motivates customers to buy individual products
• Extensive on-the-field past experience in direct buying roles and product development
• Category management and a similar top management role in the homewares industry
• Confidence combined with negotiating, influencing and networking skills
