Job Description

Drive the product strategy for all furniture areas. Maximize/optimize all department trends as well as identifying key new opportunities.

Concept

• Research and propose design trends from furniture fairs, comp shopping, vintage, exhibitions, blogs & general across all furniture product areas.
• Identify trends in finishes, materials, handles, details and shape.
• Drive the design and development of new furniture opportunities.
• Organize & oversee the presentation of the new trends & opportunities identified to the senior management team.

Communication

• Attend weekly trading meetings with the furniture teams on all areas and report findings/progress and actions.
• Attend final selection meetings and report outcomes.
• Proactively communicate trends and ideas identified back to colleagues, teams, senior management team.
• Tactical travel with Buying Manager, key factories, exhibitions & trade fairs.
• Lease and communicate with colleagues within design and buying to drive cohesive messages and packages across the business.

Managerial

• Train and develop 3 Designers through appraisals and performance management. Supported by Design Manager.
• Measure own effectiveness using the 360 degree peer feedback process.
• Organize recruitment and development for the furniture areas within the design team.

Execution

• See & drive the furniture vision from beginning to end, design, execution & naming of product, pagination, presentation in retail & packaging.
• Work with colleagues within design and buying to drive cohesive messages and packages across the business.

Essential Experience

• Expert in commercial innovative furniture design
• Strong experience within cabinetry design
• Management experience
