Our client is an innovative and design led company based in London with strong UK presence in both branded and own label homewares products. They are now looking for an experienced, driven and pro-active Senior Logistics Manager to join their team to lead their logistics arm as they continue to grow globally. The role is very fast paced and your ultimate goal is to ensure a highly efficient logistics and supply chain is in place to support their growth.
• Ensure the Logistics and Supply Chain are maximised for a growing, international business. Achieve cost-effective, on time delivery of all import and export movements worldwide; continuously re-assessing the most efficient and cost-effective logistic solutions. Make proposals on how to ensure the logistics best support the business and its partners over the next five years of growth.
• Export and Import Management
• Achieve on time delivery to required dates for all import and export movements globally.
• Lead with the advance preparation and consolidation of LCL shipments into FCL containers to maximise full container rates.
• Plan all FCL shipments.
• Coordinate with suppliers to arrange all product shipment bookings in line with goods ready dates.
• Working closely with their inventory manager, determine the best route and method to move stock to destination based on demand.
• Arrange all necessary air freight shipment bookings.
• Host high level overviews of FOB shipment projectsto ensure efficient processes and costs are maintained.
• Effectively manage all open shipments that are live and in transit to their final destination. This could be an airfreight, truck movement or shipment, on their internal systems. (WinMan UK and USA).
• Monitor vessels daily notifying the business of any issues to delivery or transit.
• Work closely with the production manager and stock manager to schedule efficient shipment sailings in line with scheduled drop plans.
• Manage the coordination and execution of China distribution collections.
• Manage the Import & Export Compliance ensuring all VAT, Customs, Commodity Codes, DOCs for UK and US customs clearance are prepared.
• Analyse and approve supplier invoices to finance for payment.
• Ensure efficient carriers and processes are in place to deliver goods to their end customers correctly and on time. These customers could be domestic in the UK, or in Europe or the USA.
• Prepare the business for an application for Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) status. Maintenance of systems required to retain that status.
• Prepare the business for an application for Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (CTPAT) status. Maintenance of systems required to retain that status.
• Ensure the business is working with the best third-party partners to store and deliver their stock to their end customers. Ensure they are paying the optimum fees for such a service in UK, US and potentially the Far East.
• Strategically lead with creative warehousing recommendations to support their global expansion ambitions.
• Onboard suitable 3pl sites in line with their growth strategy.
• Responsible for managing the operational efficiencies at their two main 3pl sites in the UK and US in line with the KPIs agreed.
• Manage the ongoing KPIs at these sites; hosting monthly review meetings to ensure SLAs are maintained and issues dealt with.
• Visit each 3PL annually to
• Report monthly on operational performance, analysing % billed vs turnover through each 3PL.
• Monitor trends and provide recommendations
• Ensure the business is working with the most cost-effective forwarders to manage their shipments.
• Meet frequently freight forwarder and source new options for the UK and US market.
• Negotiate favourable sea freight rates and monitor the shipping rate market through multiple freight forwarders, to ensure that their rates are competitive.
• Monitor spend monthly to ensure budgets remain on track.
• Courier Management
• As a significant item on their budget sheet, ensure we are using the best courier solutions for their stock and sample distribution.
• Negotiate favourable discount rates with their UPS accounts.
• Approve all UPS invoices and publish quarterly reports on spend.

• Have previous management experience of logistics within an international business and delivering an improved supply chain during that growth period.
• Knowledge and experience of global export and import management

• Excellent understanding of forwarders and global trade.
• Experience of working with factories in China and Europe.
• Computer literate with knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel & Outlook.
• Experience in working with an ERP system.
